Bistable Reeled Composites

Sunday September 7, 2003
RolaTube Technology Ltd produces a collapsible thermoplastic composite that is stable in both coiled and extended forms. Called a Bistable Reeled Composite (BRC), it is somewhat like a metal tape measure (companies such as Lockheed Martin and Orbital Sciences Corp. use metal tape measures on deployable satellite structures). BRCs can replace telescopic masts and similar structures, or they can be permanently deployed as rigid poles or pipes.
