Carbon Pultrusions for Electrical Contacts

Xerox Corp. has developed a pultruded carbon composite for use as an electrically conductive contact. The matrix can be either a thermoplastic or a thermoset. The composite is less susceptible to corrosion than traditional metal contacts. Conductivity can be tuned by controlling the carbonization process, and by coating the fibers with copper.
