Bayer Forms New Company for Chemicals and Polymers
Friday November 7, 2003
The Bayer Group is forming a new company from Bayer Chemicals and parts of Bayer Polymers. While the spin-off is intended to allow Bayer to focus on its core businesses, splitting polymers may cause some confusion. Bayer will retain polyurethanes, polycarbonates and coating raw materials - areas where Bayer holds global leadership positions. The new company, with the rather uncreative name "NewCo," will include certain polymers such as inorganic pigments, flame-retarding agents, plasticizers, ABS, and semi-crystalline thermoplastics used in automotive engineering.
