Composites Bring Many Benefits to 7E7
Sunday December 28, 2003
Lighter weight and increased fuel efficiency aren't the only benefits composites bring to Boeing's 7E7. Because composites don't corrode, humidity in the cabin could be increased, improving air quality. Fuselage strength could also be increased, allowing higher air pressure without an increase in weight. Reducing part count and fasteners also means large monolithic assemblies, such as entire wings, can be built off-site by partners and delivered to Boeing for quick assembly.
