Composites Startup Asked to Document Claims
Sunday May 2, 2004
Monolite Composites, hoping to start a company in Maine, is seeking $400,000 (USD) in development grant money. Monolite claims its materials are better than aluminum and widely accepted by the aerospace industry. Monolite expects to employ 400-450 people in the next 18 months, then start up five to six related companies, each employing 250 to 500 people, over the next four to five years. The state, however, is now asking for documentation supporting their claims. The vague descriptions in the article do nothing to distinguish Monolite's materials from other composites; it appears the state is prudent in asking for more documentation.
