One new discussion talks about pinholes at a flange, and a continuing discussion on surface pinholes offers some more solutions. In an old discussion about vacuum pressure during infusion, one reader talks about methods for pulling a vacuum through the resin port. Finally, some suggestions have been offered for solving print-through and softening problems with a new plug and mold. Problems with pinholes seems to be a popular topic. A new discussion talks about pinholes at a flange or vertical edge. The original post was deleted by the author, but the replies have some useful information. RAHULQUEST is having problems with surface pinholes developing during cure. Some additional suggestions have been offered, including glazing the entire part with a graphite powder/epoxy resin putty mix and applying a fine layer of woven surfboard glass. Another recent discussion on the same topic has some additional suggestions. New comments in the discussion about vacuum pressure during infusion suggest pulling a vacuum through the resin ports. This can produce good results, but it will pull a lot of resin out of the part, so you must be careful to trap it. 71roadster is having difficulty with a new plug and mold. The first problem is that the acrylic lacquer paint used to seal the plug softened and stuck to the mold. The second problem is that the mold surface showed a lot of print through from the glass fabric. Some good suggestions have been made on solving the problems. |
