DRS Receives Orders for Neptune MUAV
03/26/03 DRS Technologies has received new orders to produce Neptune Maritime Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (MUAVs) for the U.S. Navy. The Neptune was designed to assist tactical military operations and civil applications where developed runways are unavailable.

Commercial Tiltrotor Ground Testing
12/16/02 The Bell/Agusta 609 (BA 609), the world's first commercial tiltrotor aircraft, has begun ground run testing in preparation for first flight. During this process all of the aircraft systems will be tested and thoroughly checked.

GEM-60 Test Fire Successful
04/27/00 Alliant Techsystems completed a static test fire of the new Delta IV solid rocket booster. The test was at cold temperatures and excercised the thrust vector control.

Graphite Pultrusions in Space
04/05/00 An articulated mast made from graphite epoxy pultrusions provided the stable platform for the recent Shuttle Radar Topography Mission.

Titan IV Test Firing
03/28/00 Alliant Techsystems successfully test fired a Titan IV solid rocket motor on 19 March. The graphite epoxy motor has a carbon phenolic nozzle made from previously unqualified materials.

Aluminum Tanks for X-33?
01/14/00 Following the failure of the X-33's liquid hydrogen fuel tanks, which are a graphite-epoxy sandwich construction, Lockheed Martin is considering replacing them with aluminum tanks. Although this article doesn't mention it, Space News reports that Lockheed Martin has authorized Michoud Space Systems to begin design work on aluminum replacement tanks. Still, no final decision has been made on the replacement.

X-34 Wing Assembled
