Academic and Government Programs

Composite software available from academic and government groups.
ALIS: Automated Laminate Inspection System
For ultrasonic evaluation of composites and fiber metal laminates. Articles describing image and signal processing. Downloadable demo.
CCM Simulations Page
A collection of online composite analysis module. Each module has an overview, a discussion of the theory, and a calculation page. Also listed here by individual program.
CDMCS: Composite Design & Mfg Critiquing System
An expert system for incorporating composite materials into designs. The link is to a 1993 AAAI paper describing the system.
CIMP Software
List of programs available to CIMP members (Cornell Injection Molding Program). 28 programs, most for injection molding, but a few for general structural analysis.
Composites & Coatings Group
Collection of 8 PC and Mac programs from the University of Cambridge. Thermal and elastic properties and stress calcs at the micro- and macro-mechanical levels.
COSMIC Collection
COSMIC is NASA's publicly available software library, and includes several composites programs. Most of the software is available from the site, though there is a fee for each download.
Intelligent Systems Laboratory (ISL)
University of Michigan. Develops knowledge-based systems for a variety of disciplines, including composite systems design and composite fabrication. Site describes the different projects, lists personnel and publications, and provides additional information about the laboratory.
NASA Life Prediction Branch
Programs for the analysis of ceramics (CARES), composites (CAN), micromechanics (MAC/GMC) and nondestructuive evaluation (TIUI).
Stanford Structures and Composites Lab (SACL)
List of available source code and executables. Programs for manufacturing, impact, joints, delamination, design, smart structures, and environment.
