Second Annual Recycling Investment Forum

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. - The Second Annual Midwest Recycling Investment Forum will be held on September 29, 1999 at the Omni Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati, in conjunction with the National Recycling Coalition's 18th Annual Congress and Exposition. The Midwest Recycling Investment Forum is a unique opportunity for investors interested in meeting the region's most promising recycling businesses. The Forum will introduce investors to select businesses seeking between $100,000 and $10 million in equity. The Forum includes brief presentations by twelve featured businesses, table-top displays showcasing their products and services, and ample time for networking with the recycling business executives and investor attendees. Mark Alsentzer, Director, President and CEO of U.S. Plastic Lumber Corp. will be the guest speaker.

The Forum will feature the following companies:

  • Renew Resources, Inc., a Minnesota firm producing a line of specialized tactical training devices from recycled latex and rubber.
  • Tyreplex Corporation, a Maryland developer of a unique, patented and proprietary system for producing devulcanized rubber from scrap tires which directly competes with virgin rubber and synthetic compounds.
  • Millennium Plastic Wood, a Kansas firm producing dimensional lumber products from scrap plastic.
  • Encore Recycling, a Missouri producer of construction materials derived from utility fly ash and discarded pallets.
  • Itronics, Inc., a Nevada-based developer of a proprietary process for recycling liquid photochemical wastes to recover the silver and produce high-quality liquid fertilizers.
  • Gridworks, Inc., an Iowa company with a patented process for creating high-value, solid wood artistic items from discarded bowling pins.
  • Great Harbor Design Center, a New York company that produces proprietary construction materials using scrap glass and cement.
  • Coon Manufacturing, Inc., a Missouri based scrap plastics processor and manufacturer.
  • Autoclaved Aerated Concrete, LLC, an Indiana producer of concrete products derived from utility flyash.
  • Natural Resource Recovery Corporation, a Nebraska company offering a unique thermochemical liquefaction technology to convert organic sold waste materials into industrial chemicals.
  • Genesis Manufacturing, a Minnesota company collecting, processing and recycling plastic based medical waste and manufacturing a variety of high-quality injection-molded end-products.

MACRO presents this year's Forum with primary sponsorship from U.S. EPA, Region 5. Organizers include the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC), the National Recycling Coalition and KirkWorks.

MACRO is a multi-state member association that encourages and coordinates the review and development of regionally effective programs and policy issues directed at recycling, market development, source reduction and recycled content purchasing. MACRO membership is made up of state recycling officials from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
