New Composites Reference Work with Internet Version

Comprehensive Composite Materials is a six volume major reference work which was published by Elsevier Science under the Pergamon imprint in July 2000. The printed work has been released simultaneously with an Internet version -- the first time that Elsevier Science has published a major reference work in this way.

This is a unique publication in the composite materials field - "aiming to provide a full coverage of the subject of composites forty years after the discovery, or rather invention, of the first modern very stiff fibers," claim the Editors-in-Chief. Coverage is truly comprehensive, dealing with all aspects of composites: fundamental theories, forms of composites and their reinforcements, properties (physical, chemical, mechanical), testing methods, manufacturing processes, design and applications.

Comprehensive Composite Materials will be of interest to those working in the field of composite materials research and development, in industry, academia and governmental research institutions. The work will consist of around 190 major articles, covering polymer, ceramic and metal matrix composites; special attention has been given to new and developing applications and to smart composites.

Access to an Internet version is on a site licence basis and is included in the purchase price. Therefore, researchers within a purchasing institute have 24 hour desktop access to the content, in a searchable, readable and printable form.

The Editors-in-Chief, Professor Anthony Kelly and Dr Carl Zweben, say "we are pleased to have brought together such an expert team of Volume Editors which together with the membership of our Honorary Advisory Board indicates the nature of this major work." The reference lists in the work are extensive and fully checked, providing for an unparalleled reference source (up to 15,000 references).

The hardbound, six-volume set (ISBN: 0-08-042993-9) including access to the Internet is available for USD 3250.00 / NLG 6403.00. For further information please go to the Comprehensive Composite Materials website at http://www.elsevier.com/locate/compcompmat.
