Marion Composites Receives Shelters Contract from U.S. Army

ROSWELL, Ga., Aug. 15 - Advanced Technical Products, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATPX), announced today that its Marion Composites division has been awarded a contract for Petroleum Quality Analysis System (PQAS) shelters from the U.S. Army Rock Island Arsenal. The PQAS shelter will be used to house a mobile petroleum analysis laboratory. In order to meet the U.S. Army's specifications for this program, Marion Composites will design, develop and produce a new HMMWV mounted shelter to house the PQAS system. Total contract value, including base and contract options, is approximately $2.5M. Delivery of two prototype PQAS shelters is scheduled for November 2001.

The unique functions of the PQAS system require operators to stand while performing laboratory analysis within the shelter. Marion applied their current patent for Height Reducible EMI Shielded Electronic Enclosures to propose the new PQAS shelter that is a height extendable version of the standard HMMWV mounted S-788 shelter. As designed, the PQAS shelter extends vertically to provide a full-height working environment while maintaining EMI properties. When the extendable feature is retracted, the system maintains its compatibility with C-130 cargo height requirements.

According to Steve Sperry, Director of Shelter Operations, "We are very pleased and excited about our participation on the PQAS program. The height extendable feature adds a new dimension for highly mobile HMMWV mounted systems. This product line growth offers the U.S. Military improved system capability with potential application to numerous other programs."
