FANUC Introduces New Plastic Molding Robotics
FANUC Robotics North America, Inc. is introducing several new robotic technologies at Plastics USA from October 2 to 4 in booth #848 at the McCormick Center in Chicago. The new FANUC M-6iB robot equipped with FANUC Robotics' AccuDeflash(TM) will simulate robotic deflashing and trimming of a blow molded plastic child seat. The robot will also feature the new i Pendant, an innovative color graphic user interface device to the FANUC SYSTEM R-J3iB Controller that is based on Internet technology.
The new M-6iB is the latest generation of the general-purpose material handling, 6-axis robot with a 6-kg payload. The new M-6iB robot features the highest motion speeds in its class for maximum performance and productivity. The compact, cost effective yet flexible design simplifies installation and maximizes reach in the compact workspace environment of the plastics industry.
The M-6iB can be used in applications such as material removal (deflashing/degating), part transfer, mold machine insert load, part unload, part and case packing, dispensing and assembly.
The motion envelope of the arm includes that of the previous model and has 8% larger horizontal stroke. The wrist size is also 19% smaller, enabling the robot to enter into smaller openings in parts, molds and presses and simplifies tooling design. The robot joint speed is significantly faster, minimizing cycle time. The M-6iB also features the highest motion speeds in its class and the best in class reach versus stroke ratio. Axes speeds have increased by up to 30 percent and up to 500 degrees/sec.
AccuDeflash is an innovative, patented robotic plastics deflashing process offered exclusively by FANUC Robotics. FANUC Robotics developed AccuDeflash(TM) for robotic deflashing and trimming of a wide variety of plastic parts. The process utilizes the speed, repeatability and reliability advantages of FANUC robots to provide a consistent automated process. The process, proven in numerous successful field installations, allows a robot to deflash and trim plastic parts that may vary in size or shape. AccuDeflash is successful because it tolerates part-to-part variations, caused in most cases by part shrinkage during cooling. FANUC Robotics received a patent on this process in late 2000.
i Pendant
The ergonomically designed i Pendant is the next generation in user interface technology from FANUC Robotics. The Internet-ready i Pendant allows users to browse information that is available on the Internet/Intranet. Users can also customize robot information displayed on the i Pendant. The i Pendant has an intuitive multi-window display, which makes the i Pendant easy to use and learn. Users of FANUC Robotics' new i Pendant can expect to see increased uptime due to integrated diagnostics, decreased training time since it is compatible with the current teach pendant and includes integrated help functions.
