Fiber Innovations Wins Supplier Award for Missile

Palmdale, CA - March 6, 2001 - The Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Company - Palmdale today announced that Fiber Innovations of Walpole, MA has been selected as its Small Business Supplier of the Year for 2001. This honor is awarded to the supplier that has provided exceptional products at competitive prices and delivery.

Fiber Innovations provides Lockheed Martin with most of the composite airframe for the JASSM missile. One of the Department of Defense's highest priority programs, Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) is designed to give Air Force and Navy pilots long-range standoff capability against a wide array of high value, heavily defended targets. Its GPS satellite navigation system, state-of-the-art infrared seeker, 1000-pound penetrator warhead, and stealth airframe makes it virtually impossible to defend against. The Air Force plans to purchase 3700 missiles.

Announcing the award, Lockheed Martin's John Cooke said, "This selection was based on Fiber Innovations' accomplishments over the past year. Their professional commitment, dedicated staff, outstanding customer service, superior delivery, and competitive prices were some of the factors considered" in the prestigious award.

Lockheed Martin has also recommended the company to the U.S. Small Business Administration for the "Region 1 (New England) Small Business subcontractor of the Year." The recipient of this award will be announced in four months and will qualify as a candidate for the "National Small Business of the Year" who will be announced in Washington, DC during Small Business Week in May.
