Hexcel Extends Supplier Relationship with Embraer

Hexcel Composites is pleased to announce our extended business relationship with Embraer (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica S.A.) through the continued supply of advanced composite materials for their production of future regional jet aircraft. The astronomical demand for regional jet aircraft by major airlines over the past five years has provided Embraer the opportunity to establish itself a premiere market position against the previously dominant aircraft manufacturers.

Final signature of a recent multi-million dollar contract has enabled Hexcel to become a primary "life of program" Supplier Partner to Embraer for the manufacture of the entire ERJ regional aircraft series. A combination of specified HexPly® impregnated fabrics/tapes, HexWeb honeycomb structural and some Fibrelam® sandwich panels will be furnished to designated Embraer locations from various Hexcel worldwide facilities.

As a Supplier Partner, Hexcel Composites will exceed the expectations of a general commodity vendor by more actively participating in materials solutions for the future success of Embraer programs.

Hexcel congratulates Embraer on the production of over five hundred (500) ERJ 145 series regional aircraft, and the forthcoming launch and production of the ERJ 170/190 series, beginning in 2002.
