Parabeam Introduces ParaGlass Structural Core Laminates

Helmond, The Netherlands - May 23, 2001 - Parabeam b.v., company of the multinational Gamma Holding Group and producer of Parabeam® 3D Glass Fabrics and Parabeam® 3D Glass Panels introduces a new and improved line of 3D glass fabrics called "ParaGlass".

Parabeam® 3D Glass Fabrics are a 100% woven E-Glass material consisting of two deck layers bonded by vertical glass piles. During impregnation with a thermoset resin, the fabric is compressed but then immediately rebounds to its original height. The resulting laminate is strong, stiff, lightweight and durable.

The new ParaGlass product line offers the following characteristics and improvements:

  • New thicknesses of 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 18 and 22 mm.
  • New thicknesses of 0.12, 0.20, 0.31, 0.47, 0.59, 0.67 and 0.87 in.
  • Easier impregnation qualities.
  • Improved drapeability.
  • Higher strength to weight ratio.
  • One single universal fabric quality for all general applications: ParaGlass.
  • One single fabric quality for all tank and lining applications: ParaTank.
  • Automatic springback-force now up to 22 mm / 0.87 in. fabric thickness.
  • Better surface quality: no risk of wrinkles and faults.

Parabeam® 3D Glass Fabrics are being used in sandwich structures in the marine, construction and transport industries, and also for secondary containment of storage tanks in corrosive environments. Moreover the arisen interstice between the two decklayers can be utilised for the circulation or containment of liquids and gasses, especially useful for leak detection units in storage tanks or for the cooling and heating of mouldings or liquor fermentation tanks.
