QUANTUM Displays Cylinder at GM Fuel Cell Seminar
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 19 - QUANTUM Technologies WorldWide, Inc., (Nasdaq:IMCO) announced that at the General Motors Fuel Cell technical seminar in Tokyo, GM presented QUANTUM's advanced compressed hydrogen storage technology as an integral part of GM's vision of future fuel cell transportation.
QUANTUM displayed its TriShield(TM) all-composite, ultra-lightweight, hydrogen storage cylinder, and its patented hydrogen fuel regulation and injection technology. QUANTUM's TriShield(TM) hydrogen storage cylinder technology has achieved the highest compressed hydrogen storage by weight ever recorded at 11.3% at 5,000psi (350 bar), and was the first all-composite cylinder technology to qualify for 10,000 psi (700 bar) hydrogen storage by achieving a hydrostatic burst test in excess of 24,000 psi. This achievement exceeds the 2.35 safety factor requirement of 23,500 psi set by the European Integrated Hydrogen Project (EIHP) regulatory body. At 10,000 psi, significantly more hydrogen fuel can be stored in a given space than at 5,000 psi, dramatically increasing the range of fuel cell vehicles.
In June of this year, GM and QUANTUM formed a global strategic alliance and equity partnership to collaborate on improving the range of GM's fuel cell vehicles through the development of hydrogen storage, hydrogen handling and electronic control technologies for fuel cell applications.
At the General Motors Fuel Cell technical seminar in Tokyo, GM also announced a new agreement with Suzuki Motor Corporation to collaborate in the development of fuel cell vehicles. This adds another world-class company to GM's global team of partners focusing on future fuel cell product development programs that now includes QUANTUM, General Hydrogen, Giner Electrochemical Systems, and Hydrogenics.
