Reichhold Appoints New Composites VPs

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. - Sept. 6, 2001 - Today Julia D. Harp, senior vice president, Global Composites announced the appointment of Leo van der Heiden as vice president of marketing and Alex Car as vice president of sales for Global Composites.

Both van der Heiden and Car have extensive knowledge of the composites business and were appointed to extend Reichhold's global reach and focus on customer needs.

Van der Heiden will be based in the Netherlands and will have global responsibility for marketing strategy, market development, brand promotion and competitive analysis. Prior to joining Reichhold, van der Heiden spent eight years at GE Plastics, where he held various marketing positions.

Van der Heiden began his career in laboratory and technical service for composites and spent 10 years in technical and marketing positions for DSM Resins. He holds a degree in chemical technology from Rotterdam Technical University and studied plastics engineering at the London Plastics and Rubber Institute. He has an MBA from the International Management Institute in Geneva, Switzerland. He also attended management development training at GE Crotonville where he completed business leadership courses and six sigma quality initiatives.

"Leo brings the best combination of experience and knowledge to lead our global marketing efforts," said Harp. "His technical background, composites experience and knowledge of thermoplastics makes him the ideal candidate. He fully understands the value of composites and the threat of thermoplastics."

Alex Car was also named vice president of sales, Global Composites. Car has been with Reichhold 16 years and has built relationships with many Reichhold customers. He has a diverse background of marketing, sales and composites experience.

Prior to this position, Car served as director of sales for North America. Car joined Reichhold in 1985 and has held positions such as regional sales manager for the Toronto region. Car also spent three years in coatings. Prior to joining Reichhold, Car served as a technical sales representative with Union Carbide.

Car holds a Bachelor of Engineering and Management from McMaster University and was also an Ontario scholar at the Gordon Graydon School.

"Alex has a diverse sales background and years of composites' experience," said Harp. "He has developed strong customer relationships. Alex will focus on increasing the value we bring to customers through quality products and service."
