CFA Seeks Nominations for Excellence and Innovation Awards

July 7, 2003 (ARLINGTON, VA) - CF Magazine, the official magazine of the Composites Fabricators Association (CFA), is now accepting nominations for its newly launched awards program, the Excellence & Innovation Awards. These awards recognize composites industry professionals who demonstrate achievement in excellence or innovation and deserve to be recognized. Nominations will be accepted until October 10, 2003. The awards include:

Innovation in Manufacturing Process Award - This award, sponsored by AOC, will recognize a specific company that has created an innovative way to manufacture composite products. Manufacturing processes considered for this category are open molding, closed molding, matched metal die molding, filament winding, pultrusion, and casting operations of the cast polymer industry.

Innovation in Plant or Project Management Award - Offered to a team or individual nominee, this award, sponsored by Magnum Venus Products, is fashioned to capture innovative management of a plant or specific project. Creativity as well as efficiency will be judged.

Innovation in EH&S Practices Award - Those who exceed industry standards deserve recognition. Nominees for this category, sponsored by Valspar, are companies that make a significant effort to reduce emissions, noise and scrap; encourage and practice recycling; and promote environmentally sound production standards.

Innovation in Employee Recognition & Training Award - Employee recognition and training is the essence of employee productivity and morale. Nominees for this category, sponsored by E-Composites, Inc., should be companies or individuals who have instilled a creative and efficient way to train and/or recognize their employees for a job well done.

Excellence as a Production Supervisor Award - This award, sponsored by Reichhold, recognizes outstanding performance as a production supervisor, including meeting goals, inspiring employees, and hitting quality targets. And since there is more than one way to measure the performance of an outstanding supervisor, this award is open to more than one winner.

Excellence as a Manufacturing Employee Award - The bread and butter of any manufacturing endeavor are the men and women who roll up their sleeves and work the trenches. CF Magazine feels that this award, sponsored by Safas Corporation, recognizing the efforts of manufacturing employees is long overdue. Many deserve this award, and we’re looking to recognize a select few who go above and beyond.

Excellence in Community Stewardship Award - Businesses that contribute to the community in philanthropic ways are always held in high regard. We’re giving one award, sponsored by Composites One, to a company that exemplifies community stewardship at its finest.

The November/December issue of Composites Fabrication Magazine will showcase winners and their accomplishments. Each winner will receive a plaque, a featured spot on the CF Magazine Web site, and a press release distributed to local media and industry trade press. If you know a worthy individual or company that deserves to be recognized for outstanding achievement in any of the above categories, CF Magazine asks that you fill out the nomination form available at www.cfmagzine.org/awards.htm. Additional nomination forms can be found in the July issue of CF and in the brochure attached to the August issue.
