Definition:
Esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid or of their structural derivatives which vary from soft, elastic, film-forming materials to hard plastics. Readily polymerized as homopolymers or copolymers with many other monomers, contributing to improved resistance to heat, light and weathering. They serve as plasticizers during processing, then polymerize during cure to impart hardness to the finished article. Also known as acryl esters.
