Definition:
Chemical reaction in which two components join together to form a single reaction product. In a pure additive reaction, neither of the reactants undergoes molecular fission or splitting, but attaches itself to the other reactant intact. In other additive reactions, one of the reactants may split into two separate parts, each of which attaches itself to the appropriate places of the other intact reactant yielding a single reaction product.
