Definition:
A substance used in small proportions which hastens a reaction, usually by acting in conjunction with a catalyst or a curing agent. An accelerator is sometimes used in the polymerization of thermoplastics, but is used most widely in curing systems for thermosets. Also known as COCATALYSTS or PROMOTERS. See also CURING AGENTS.
