Definition: A coating or film applied to one surface to prevent or reduce its adhesion to another surface brought into intimate contact with it. Abherent applied to plastic films are often called anti-blocking agents. Those applied to molds, calender rolls and the like are also known as RELEASE AGENT, PARTING AGENT, or ABHESIVE.
