Definition:
Organic ring structures such as benzene, the simplest cyclic compound, consisting of a single ring. When two or more rings are involved, the compound is bicyclic (naphthalene), tricyclic (anthracene), etc. Cyclic compounds may also contain from three to six or more carbon atoms in the ring.
