Definition: A broad term covering those thermoplastics (with or without fillers or reinforcements) which have mechanical, chemical and thermal properties, maintain dimensional stability, and are suitable for use under conditions of high impact, heat or moisture. They can include the acetals, polycarbonates, polyphenylene sulfides, polysulfones, modified polyphenylene oxides, polyimides and poly-amide-imides.
