Definition:
(1) A substance, generally having some adhesive action, added to an adhesive to reduce the amount of the primary binder required per unit area. See also BINDER and FILLER. (2) In plastics compounding, a substance added to the mixture to reduce its cost. The substance may be a resin, plasticizer or filler. See also BLENDING RESIN.
