Definition: An advanced technique used for molding unusual particulate materials such as the super light ablator formed from a mixture of cork particles, glass and phenolic resin microspheres, carbon black, glass fibers and a thermosetting silicone resin. The mixture is transferred from the injection tube to a mold by fluidizing it in a gas stream. The process combines aspects of particulate mechanics, porous media flow-through and multiphase flow.
