Definition:
A number representing the degree of cure of phenolic resins, defined as the ratio of absorbances at 12.2 and 9.8 micrometers from the absorption spectrum of the material. The background absorbance at each wavelength is subtracted from the peak absorbance, and the index is obtained by dividing the difference at 12.2 μm, by the difference at 9.8 μm.
