Definition: A term proposed for a modification of the injection molding process, wherein first, the plastic melt is injected under relatively low pressure into a mold which is vented at this stage, then, after the cavity is filled, additional clamping pressure is applied to completely close the mold and compress or stamp the molded shape. Molds are designed so that even in the venting position no material exudes from the land areas. Advantages of the process are said to be a reduction in injection time and pressure, and shorter cycle because after the filling operation, the injection screw begins to plasticate the next shot.
