Definition:
The energy of the laser is used for drilling, cutting or welding of plastics. Low power lasers are also used for highly accurate and rapid inspection systems for gaging thickness and detecting physical flaws in plastics. A medium-power C02 laser is preferred for machining of plastics because it can produce a light wavelength of 10.6 micrometers, which is completely absorbed by plastics.
