Definition:
A process for the reduction or elimination of oxide formed on rapidly solidified, highly reactive metals and alloys. In LDC a molten stream of metal is atomized with high velocity pulses of an inert gas, and the semisolidified droplets are collected on a chilled, metallic substrate in the form of rapidly solidified splats.
