Definition: (1) A form around which pultruded and filament wound structures are shaped or used for the base in the production of a part by lay-up or filament winding. (2) Also, the outer surface of the mandrel which guides the flow of the inner surface of the plastic melt as it leaves the discharge end of the die. (3) In the braiding process used for forming and shaping the fabric.
