Sulfur is the 16th element on the periodic table. It is located in period 3 and group 16. It is directly below oxygen (O) and between phosphorus (P) and chlorine (Cl).

Under ordinary conditions, sulfur is a yellow solid. It is one of relatively few element that occurs in pure form in nature. While solid sulfur and its vapor are yellow, the element appears red as a liquid. It burns with a blue flame.
