Definition: Aromatic, heterocyclic polymer products of the reaction of various tetraacids and tetraamines. Due to their double chain or ladder-like structure, the polymers have outstanding resistance to heat, radiation and chemicals. The powders can be molded under conditions that complete the cyclization or conversion to the ladder-like molecular structure during the molding cycle. The cyclization reaction generates water, which must be removed from the part. Also known as PYRRONES.
