Definition:
An analytical technique which can be used for the analysis of organic substances found in composite surfaces or bulk material. A material is bombarded with monochromatic radiation which results in a phenomenon known as Raman scattering. The frequencies of the Raman spectra are, like infrared absorption bands, characteristics of the molecule and the various groups and linkages in the molecule.
