Definition:
A class of semi-organic polymers comprising chains of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms, modified with various organic groups attached to the silicone atoms. The silicone resins, possessing good electrical properties and strength at high temperature, can be processed with glass reinforcements by compression and injection molding. Mixtures of silanediols and triols are copolymerized to yield thermosetting resins. Also known as ORGANOPOLYSILOXANES.
