Definition:
The shaping of plastic sheets or billets into three-dimensional articles either at room temperature (see also COLD FORMING) or at higher temperatures up to the softening range (see also WARM FORGING) by processes such as those used in the metal working industry. Materials suitable for some of the solid-phase forming processes are polyolefins, polycarbonates, polyphenylene oxides and polysulfones.
