Definition: A molding process used for thermosetting resins. The molding material, which may be preheated, is placed in an open pot at the top of a closed mold. A plunger is placed in the pot above the material. Pressure applied by a press platen to the plunger forces the molding material into the gates, runners and cavities of the heated mold. Following a heating cycle during which the material is cured the press is opened and the parts are ejected.
