Definition:
A nondestructive inspection technique for composites in which a. short pulse of ultrasonic energy is incident on a sample. Measurement of the transmitted pulse indicates the sample's attenuation of the incident pulse. The attenuation of the pulse is influenced by voids, delaminations, state of resin cure, the fiber volume fraction, the condition of the fiber/matrix interface and any foreign inclusions present.
