Definition:
A method of incorporating metallic inserts in plastic articles by means of ultrasonic heating. Ultrasonic vibrations applied as the metallic part is being inserted into the hole cause displaced plastic material to flow into threads, knurls, flutes or undercuts on the insert—mechanically locking it into place.
