Temporary Teaching Position

The University of Canterbury, Department of Mechanical Engineering, invites applications for a temporary six-month teaching position in the area of polymers and composite materials in the second half of 1999 (appointment dates: June 1, 1999 to December 1, 1999). The appointee will be required to prepare and offer a one semester (12 teaching weeks) course on polymeric and composite materials to final year undergraduate students, and to contribute introductory lectures in the same area to lower level undergraduate courses in engineering materials. He or she may also be required to assist with the supervision of undergraduate or postgraduate projects as appropriate.
Applicants should hold or be about to receive an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or materials science/engineering. Previous experience in teaching and research at university level, and/or industry experience in the broad area of materials or materials processing would be an advantage.
