Definition: An aliphatic dibasic acid used in the preparation of polyesters, poly amides and alkyd resins. Also used as a nucleating agent, e.g., in polypropylene. Also known as HEXANEDIOIC ACID and 1,4-BUTANEDICARBOXYLIC ACID.
