ATK Composites Receives Nadcap Accreditation
ATK is the first advanced composite company in the aerospace industry to gain accreditation from the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap). It received accreditation only after a thorough independent review of its composite fabrication and adhesive bonding processes and procedures.
Chinese Company Receives Boeing 7E7 Contract
Chengdu Aircraft Industrial Group, based in China, has signed an agreement to manufacture the rudder for the Boeing 7E7. The rudder is part of the vertical tail fin, which will be assembled at the Boeing Composite Manufacturing Center (CMC).
ElkCorp Expands Composite Lumber Production
In response to increased demand for its composite lumber products, ElkCorp announced plans to expand its current production facility, and to build a second facility, which will be operational in December 2004. The expanded capacity will also allow ElkCorp to broaden its product offerings.
Explosive Growth Prediced for Injection Molded Wood-Plastic Composites
The injection molded wood-plastic composite (WPC) market in North America is expected to grow at an annual rate of 70% through 2008, reaching a market size of $350 million. Existing injection molders can easily move from traditional plastics to WPCs.
